SQ7 TDI

Design

  • Exterior

A great balance of powerful and sharpened styling – this is the exterior of the SQ7 TDI. Exclusive design features accentuate the exterior, for example the aluminium exterior mirrors, the sculpturally shaped single-frame radiator grille and the distinctive wheel accentuation.

All lines and surfaces are designed precisely and concisely and the width of the car and the solid overall concept are emphasised. The new radiator grille in the S-specific design on the bumpers can be seen on the side air intakes, the mirror caps and on the door inserts in aluminium. The Active Sound exhaust system leads into square tailpipes.

Size is marked by details: The headlamps of the SQ7 TDI are emphasised in three dimensions and provided with a double-arrow-shaped signature. LED headlamps are standard. The Audi Matrix LED headlamps can be ordered as an option. Each Matrix LED headlamp splits the full beam into 30 individual LEDs, which use three reflectors. The traffic situation is analysed with a camera on the interior rear-view mirror. Depending on the situation, the LEDs are dimmed, switched on or switched off. This results in millions of different light distributions that illuminate the road excellently in every traffic situation.

  • Interior

The interior of the SQ7 impresses with spaciousness and high quality workmanship. Choose between the standard sports seats and the optional Plus sports seats. If desired, five or seven people can be comfortably seated in the SQ7 TDI – and the comfort features exude luxury.

The complete interior lighting is outfitted with LED technology. In addition to the optional lighting package, the ambient lighting is an available option. It includes illuminated entry sills and an additional contour lighting on the centre tunnel console. In the top version, the interior lighting can be staged properly: several colour profiles can be set via the MMI, which can be regulated in 32 stages in each case.

The double decorative inlays: A real highlight in the interior of the SQ7 TDI, which offer plenty of attractive application combinations – as illustrated here, for example, in the combination of brushed aluminium Sono on top and aluminium/wood Beaufort below.

Engines and transmissions

  • Drivetrain

From 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds with the 4.0 TDI engine and 320 kW (435 hp) – the engine works together with strong partners to achieve these values. The world’s first electric-powered compressor (EPC) is being used in a production vehicle. The V8 engine is newly developed from scratch, maintaining the balance between performance and efficiency. It draws its power from 3,956 cc displacement. The 900 Nm of torque are available between 1,000-3,250 rpm.

The two exhaust gas turbochargers of the completely redeveloped twin-turbo engine follow the principle of sequential turbocharging: at low and medium speeds, only one turbocharger is powered and the second turbine is only switched on at a higher load. The turbochargers are supplemented by the electric-powered compressor, especially in the lower speed range – for pure dynamics without a turbo lag.

The boost pressure build-up of the the electric-powered compressor requires no exhaust energy and can therefore be used at any time, making it the solution for the traditional weaknesses of the traditional turbocharger. The compressor provides the engine with the boost pressure energy it needs for dynamic power delivery in less than 250 milliseconds. The eight-cylinder diesel engine thus builds up its immense power without any perceivable delay. A big plus, especially when starting.

Innovative: The 48-volt vehicle power supply

Innovative components require energy – the driving power of the the electric-powered compressor , for example, is 7 kW at its peak. This energy is provided by a 48-volt vehicle power supply, which allows the use of the  and the high-performance optional electromechanical dynamic ride control. For their high power and energy requirements, under the luggage compartment in the vehicle power supply is a separate 48-volt lithium-ion battery with 470 watt hours of nominal energy content and an output of up to 13 kilowatts.

    Active dynamic ride control

The optional dynamic ride control provides excellent ride comfort and superior cornering stability. A compact electric motor with a planetary gear separates the two halves of the anti-roll bar. In an uneven route, they are actively decoupled, thus increasing the ride comfort. With a sporty setting and dynamic curves, the bars are interconnected and rotated against each other. This reduces the body roll of the SQ7 TDI.

    Newly developed: The tiptronic

The newly developed eight-speed tiptronic changes gears extremely quickly and efficiently and allows for cruising in idle at higher speeds. Together with the all-wheel drive quattro and its self-locking centre differential, the forces are convincingly directed onto the road. The dynamic handling package is optionally available, which includes three technological modules: sports differential, electromechanical active dynamic ride control and all-wheel steering.

Efficiency

  • Consistently efficient

    Start-stop system

The start-stop-system helps to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by switching off the engine in stationary phases, e.g. at traffic lights. The start process is initiated as soon as the clutch is pressed (manual transmission) or when the footbrake is released (S tronic) for a good getaway. Can be deactivated at any time via a button.

Fuel consumption combined in l/100 km = 7.2
