S3 Sportback

  • Audi S3 Sportback

    The S-specific exterior

The Audi S3 Sportback is pure sportiness: the exterior mirrors in aluminum look, the single-frame with S emblem and the chromed twin struts are just three of many S-specific exterior details that give the Audi S3 its sporty appearance. The expressive rear diffusor with S-specific twin exhaust system gives the S3 an impressive visual width.

    The Audi Matrix LED Headlights

Night becomes day: the optional Audi Matrix LED headlights provide bright and even illumination of the road. Individual LEDs switch on or off depending on the situation, so that they always deliver precise illumination. In addition, the LEDs have 64 different dimming levels. Road signs are targeted with reduced brightness so that the driver is not dazzled. Dynamic indicator lights are also included.

Bring the familiar world of your smartphone into your Audi S3 Sportback with the Audi smartphone interface. Featuring a high resolution MMI colour display. Standard on board is the MMI navigation plus with MMI touch.

    The Audi virtual cockpit

More than just a look ahead: with the optional Audi virtual cockpit you have all relevant information in your field of vision. Two display modes are available for the 12.3 inch display: with the classic view the instruments appear as large as the traditional analogue displays, by contrast the infotainment mode provides a central window in the foreground, allowing space for navigation or vehicle information.

Engines and transmissions

  • Audi S3 Sportback Engine

    The Engine

More power, more sportiness, more driving pleasure: The 2.0 TFSI now delivers 228 kW (310 hp) and 400Nm from 2000 to 5400 rpm. The Audi S3 Sportback accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds all the way to a maximum speed of 250 km/h. The new Audi S3 Sportback is also equipped with the latest seven-speed S tronic transmission.

  • Consistently efficient.S3 Sportback efficiency

Vorsprung durch Technik is the claim to which the Audi brand is committed. Not only where sportiness is concerned, but in terms of future-oriented mobility as well. Audi consistently implements various efficiency measures in an overall concept. As a developer of numerous innovations, Audi has had a longlasting effect on the automotive industry.

    Start-stop system

The start-stop system helps to reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by switching off the engine in stationary phases, e.g. at traffic lights. The start process is initiated as soon as the driver releases the foot brake (S tronic) for moving off.

Increasing the generator voltage converts kinetic energy into usable electrical energy when the vehicle is coasting or braking. This (brake) energy recovery is used to assist the generator during subsequent acceleration, saving up to 3 % fuel.

    S tronic®

The S tronic transmission combines the low fuel consumption of a manual transmission with the benefits of an automatic. The control ensures fast and consumption-reducing gear shifting in automatic mode. The very large transmission-ratio spread of the S tronic allows the last gears to be used at very low engine speeds.

    LED technology

The LED light sources and light guides used for the optional full-LED headlights, the daytime running light strip of the xenon plus headlights and the indicators, rear lights and interior lighting all have an outstanding long service life and consume significantly less energy than conventional bulbs.

    Audi ultra

Audi ultra, the pioneering lightweight technology from Audi, is already being employed in the Audi S3 Sportback. The steel shell design of the Audi S3 Sportback combines low weight with high rigidity. Which type of material is used in which place on the vehicle is determined by the desired characteristics. The resulting material mix of hot- and cold-formed metal panels and profiles in the vehicle body create an ultra-modern lightweight structure. But not only ultra highstrength steels are employed, light aluminium is also used to reduce the weight of attachment parts such as the bonnet and wings. The aluminium components on the front axle and the aluminium alloy wheels not only reduce the overall weight but also the unsprung masses, which in turn leads to a further increase in agility and driving comfort. The modern TFSI® engine in the Audi S3 Sportback also produces more power with a smaller engine size, making it lighter than the corresponding engines used in earlier model series. Each lightweight component has an effect on other components, allowing their dimensions to be reduced as well. In the Audi S3 Sportback the lightweight body and lighter engine lead to secondary effects throughout the vehicle. The weight of many parts of the exhaust system, suspension and interior has been able to be reduced. This complete package of measures for the new S3 Sportback saved 70 kg compared with the predecessor model.
