Audi New Zealand has today unveiled Audi Sport, its new premium “brand within a brand”, comprised of the high performance R and RS range of models.
At the heart of the new sub-brand are Audi’s professional motorsport vehicles and drivers, along with the customer racing teams, (including two New Zealand based Audi R8 LMS vehicles which compete locally and overseas), and the high-performance R and RS models originally born on the track and now built for the road.
According to Dean Sheed, Audi New Zealand General Manager, “New Zealanders’ love of Audi Sport models and passion for performance has seen us achieve the number one position for percentage of R and RS sales worldwide. Audi Sport is perfectly suited to our market so we are thrilled to be able to introduce it and bring additional focus to the racing heritage and performance characteristics at the heart of our brand.”
Headlining Audi Sport, is the breath-taking new Audi R8 V10 plus, boasting exceptional driving technology, optional state of the art laser headlights* and billed as the most powerful and fastest production Audi yet. Also in the the line-up is the complete range of RS models, from the new RS 7 and RS 6 Performance vehicles offering a potent mix of sportiness and sophistication, through to the charismatic and multi-award-winning RS 3 Sportback.
Audi Sport will have another physical presence besides the vehicles themselves, in the form of a dedicated space in dealerships which will feature merchandise, display models, and dedicated sales people with specialised knowledge. Eight dealerships nationwide will have an Audi Sport presence, five of these will have both R and RS models while the other three will focus specifically on RS models.
Says Mr Sheed, “An immensely important aspect of Audi Sport is of course our customers, and we look forward to not only providing in-dealership access to vehicles, information and genuine Audi Sport merchandise but also to providing them with specific Audi Sport assistance, communications, specialised driving and invitation only events.
“Our range of performance vehicles with their powerful engines, technical innovations, sporty styling and quattro all-wheel drive are perfectly suitable for everyday use but are also right at home on the track, and owe their existence to our motorsport credentials. We’re pleased to now be able to offer our customers access to these vehicles and all that goes with them via the Audi Sport banner.”
